Generative AI is increasingly shaping the content and features people encounter on the web, often without clear signals about how that content was created, reviewed, or maintained. This raises important questions about trust, transparency, and responsibility for people building public-facing websites.
This session explores how AI intersects with the values of the open web and what this means for Drupal teams working in education, government, nonprofits, and other trust-sensitive spaces. We will examine how AI-assisted or AI-generated content can influence user perception and credibility, even when the information itself is accurate. Some of the topics include authorship and disclosure, human oversight, potential errors and bias, and how design and content choices shape user trust.
Rather than focusing on specific tools or implementations, this talk offers practical frameworks and guiding questions that teams can use to decide when AI is appropriate, how its use should be communicated to users, and how to align AI adoption with organizational values. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to approach AI thoughtfully while maintaining transparency, accountability, and trust on the open web.
