More often than not, accessibility is considered after AI features are developed which leads to experiences that hinder user experiences. This session will reframe how AI features are designed by including accessibility guidelines as a requirement. The session will go over a sample AI feature, such as a summarize assistant, and show how to design it for keyboard navigation, screen readers, motion sensitivity, and reduced cognitive load from the beginning. The session will highlight common anti‑patterns, like auto‑updating regions with no announcements, opaque icons, and dense text blocks to highlight accessible alternatives. Attendees will leave this session with checklists and patterns they can apply to any AI feature they design or implement.
